The stunning scenarios of lush green forest, the chirping of several birds, the Buzzing & squeaking of several insects, and snow-capped the Himalayas in the Northern part keep you spellbound and amazed. Passing through Chandragiri Hill (2410m) provides you an amazing view of several spectacular Himalayas. Chandragiri carries historic, religious, and touristic importance.

There are several artistic monuments, pagoda types of roofs, and very unique craftsmanship around several places creating unique charming. You will be amazed to observe several temples with carving woods and stones. The houses in this village carry uniqueness in nature. The snow taps, goat cheese factory, homestay facilities, several fest and festivals of Newari communities not only brighten your day but also make you feel very different and memorable.

Chitlang-Indra Sarovar Hiking Itinerary

Day 1: 6:00 - 6:30 am:

There will be a gathering of all groups in front of Great Nepal Treks office in Shantinagar, New Baneshwor. After a short briefing with introduction among the group, you will be verified with your required equipment that are essential for Hiking by our guide and representatives according the checklist that is provided to you after confirming the hiking program.

06:30 -15:00:

After completing the introducing round you will be escorted till the base camp of Chandragiri cable car station. After some cable car riding procedure, you will enjoy 12-15 min amazing cable car ride up to the elevation of with the distance of 2.5 Km. When you reach the elevation of 2500 meters, you will be spell bound and amazed. You can’t keep yourself silent clicking every moments of the nature through your camera.

After spending memorable visit around the Chandragiri Hill, you will start hiking downhill towards Chitlang village. It may take you around 3-4 hours to reach Chitlang village. After reaching Chitlang village you will be welcomed by the owner of home stay with garlands and Nepali cultural practices. They always treat guests as a form of god. After heavy lunch, you will be escorted around Chitlang village where you can get chance to explore rural life styles of several ethnic committees.

Enjoy the best goat cheese and start hiking towards Indra Sarovar lake one of the breathtaking man-made biggest water dam for Kulekhani Hydropower. You will be provided boating opportunities around the dam for an hour. It is your choice either you feel good to taste several dishes of fresh fishes from this beautiful dam. Spend your beautiful moments for 2 hours around the dam area and move back to Kathmandu from the vehicle.

15:00- 18:00:

It may take you around 3 hours slow and continuous drive following beautiful and ethnic village of Dakshinkali and Farping. Once you arrive to your starting destination, you will be dropped off. Carry the best moments with us that you have collected during the hiking period and share with your remaining family members, friends and well-wishers and provide us another opportunity to serve back you again

Note: Single day hiking to this destination might be hectic and very incomplete to experience the real taste of nature and culture of Chitlang so we suggest you to keep at least two days’ time so that you can easily experience every beautiful moment of Chitlang village and Indra Sarovar lake.
