Most of the office workers, students from college and universities and several corporate employees try to escape out in one day Sankhu Nagarkot Day hiking just to release a week long hectic routine study and duty.

Sankhu is the ancient Newari beautiful town just located in the North-Eastern corner of Kathmandu valley. It is just around 17 Km. far from madding crowd of Kathmandu valley. Sankhu was regarded as a separate kingdom before Malla Dynasty in Nepal. This destination is very rich with diverse culture, nature, and historic importance. The temple Bajrayogini also known as Khadgayogini is also located there. This is a panoramic natural hiking trail with the elevation of approximately 2000 meter from the sea level.

Nagarkot (2175m) is another very popular hill station where most of the people from Kathmandu valley escape out to chill specially in their holidays time either alone, with friends or families. It is the best destination to capture the breath-taking view of Sunrise and Sun set. You can fell that you are above the cloud when you stand above the viewing tower. If the weather is clean, you can ever view very clear settlement of Kathmandu valley and several parts of Nepal. You can even capture Mt Everest and several other mountain ranges with your open eyes.

Your hiking starts from a beautiful Sankhu town. It takes around one-hour drive to reach Sankhu from Kathmandu. You will have very slow and pleasant hike till the height of Nagarkot that may engage you around 4-5 hours. During hiking, you will feel that you are releasing all your stresses and gaining positive vibrations from clean and green nature. Do not forget to carry large space of memory stick in your camera since you won’t get chance to stop capturing the mesmerizing views of several snow-capped Himalayas ranges, flora fauna, culture and natural phenomenon during your hiking.

Sakhu Nagarkot Hiking Itinerary

Day 1: 07:00 - 08:00 am:

There will be a gathering of all groups in front of Great Nepal Treks office in Shantinagar. After a short introduction briefing among the group, you will need check all materials that are very essential to carry with you as per our list before starting the hiking. The check list will be provided to you after confirming the hiking program.

Day 2:08:00 -9:00am:

After completing the introducing round you will be escorted till the beautiful and old historic town, Sankhu from where your Hiking starts. It will take around an hour to reach Sankhu from the starting destination. After taking warm tea, load water bottle and check out the last chance if you missed out anything since Sankhu is the last place for shopping.

9:30am-16:30:

After warm tea and quick stretching, your hiking time starts following natural trail of Lapsiphedi, Jaharing Pouwa and Kattike Bhanjyang. Hiking to Nagarkot offers a unique and pleasant memory that exceeds the limitation of your imaginations and feelings. The stunning sceneries of lush green forest, chirping of several birds, Buzzing & squeaking of several insects and snow-capped Himalayas in the Northern part keep you spell bound and amazed.

There will be an hour lunch break on the way to Nagarkot. During this lunch time, you can share your experience that you have made during the hiking period with you friends and review the program. After few hours of hike, you will reach Nagarkot in the late evening.

Enjoy the breath-taking moments standing at the highest elevation of tower and capture several views of Himalayas and amazing sun-set view and move back to your vehicle leaving your foot prints. The Vehicle takes around 2 hours to drop you back to your destination. Review your day while you will be travelling back to Kathmandu.
