Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the most popular trekking destinations in the whole world. The trekking itinerary offers extraordinary views of some of the highest peaks of the whole world. This hiking itinerary is not only an opportunity to enjoy the adventure and excitement but also the chance to experience the localities of the Khumbu Region.  

The trekking trip starts from a short scenic flight to a small airport of Lukla, also known as  Tenzing Hillary Airport. This flight offers you the first views of the high peaks of the Everest Mountain Ranges. From Lukla, you will start your journey to arrive at the base of Everest through the Sagarmatha National Park trails which starts from the village of Monjo.  

Apart from the climb to the Everest Base Camp, you will also summit the 5545 meters' high peak of Kala Patthar. The peak offers extraordinary views of the Everest and other high peaks. Besides that, explore one of the oldest monasteries of the Khumbu Region, the Tengboche Monastery.  

Colorful prayer flags, inscribed-mani walls, antique monasteries, and not to mention the royal snowcapped peaks, make this trekking trip one of the greatest. One of the villages called Namche Bazaar will be of a peak interest for you as the village is used as a major trading hub by the Sherpas of the region.  

Explore the sub-tropical to alpine vegetation and the like-wildlife inside the Sagarmatha National Park. Get close views of the high peaks of the Mount Everest and such other peaks like Lhotse, Nuptse, Changtse, and so on. Enjoy your time in the Khumbu Region.

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1350m/4429ft)

Day 02: Flight to Lukla and trek to Phakding (2,652m/8,700ft) 3 hrs

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440 m/11,280 ft) 6 hrs

Day 04: Rest day in Namche for acclimatization

Day 05: Trek to Tengboche (3,870m/12,694ft) 5 hrs

Day 06: Trek to Dingboche (4,360 m/14,300 ft) 5 hrs

Day 07: Rest day in Dingboche for acclimatization

Day 08: Trek to Lobuche (4940 m/16,207 ft) 6-7 hrs

You will be welcomed by a Great Nepal Representative at the airport. From there, you will be transferred to the hotel. Freshen up and meet the representatives once again to get the brief about the trekking itinerary. In your free time, you can stroll around the capital city of Kathmandu. Overnight in a hotel in Kathmandu.  

Early morning, you will be transferred to the Tribhuvan Airport to board your plane to the Lukla airport. The airport is commonly known as the Tenzing and Hilary Airport. After a wonderful scenic flight of 30 minutes, you will be at the outskirts of Lukla. Enjoy your first breakfast at a Nepalese rural land, then begin the trek towards the village of Phakding. Along the Dudh Koshi River and on easy trail you walk to arrive at Phakding. Overnight in a tea house in Phakding. 

Today, the trail moves along the Dudh Koshi once more. While hiking up, you will be amazed at the Himalayan Pine, Cedar, and Deodar forests. Go through the entrance of the Sagarmatha National Park at the Monjo Village and start an uphill climb to the Namche Bazaar. The Bazaar is the major tourist hub of the Khumbu Region. Along the way, you will get the first glimpses of Mt. Everest, Kusum Kanguru, and Thamserku peaks. If you are an art lover, you should visit the Benkar Village. The village is famous for its Thangkas of Buddhist deities. Also, explore the Granite stones carved with Tibetan chanting along Jorsalle. Overnight in a tea house in Namche. 

The fourth day of the trek will be spent in Namche for acclimatization purposes. As the altitude increases significantly, the oxygen level starts to decrease. And, as the oxygen level decreases, the chances of suffering from Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) will also increase. So, a day for acclimatization is strictly advisable for the adventure seekers. For today, you can visit the Everest View Hotel for panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Pass the Syangboche airstrip on your way. You can also visit the Khumjung Village for nice views of the Amadablam peaks. Overnight in a tea house in Namche.  

On the fifth day of the trek, you will walk for a total of 5 hours from Namche to spring on to the Tengboche village. The village is home to the biggest Buddhist monastery of the region. The Tengboche village is a small traditional Sherpa village in the Khumbu Region. The village offers views of the Everest and such other peaks like Lhotse and Nuptse. Today, along the way, we will see the Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse and the Thamserku peaks. Also, enjoy the opportunity to see the wildlife such as the pheasants, musk deer and Himalayan Thar. Overnight in a tea house in Tengboche. 

On day sixth of your trek, you will get the chance to spot several chortens and mani walls on the way to Dingboche, where you can also relax for your minor health issues. Similarly, a delicious lunch that will simply blow you away, will be served to you. The feature of the walk today is a close-up view of Mt. Ama Dablam, the Lobuche River, and a beautiful vista of fields. Walk through the Rhododendron Forests and a suspension bridge over Imja Khola passing several Sherpa villages. You will realise the changes in geography from lush forest to dry deserted mountains until you reach Dingboche. Overnight in a teahouse in Dingboche.

You will have a full day to rest or explore around the valleys of Chhukung and Imja Khola. This particular area links with the high passes of Amphu Laptsa and Makalu Barun National Park. Overnight in a tea house in Dingboche.

Today, you will be accompanied by mountain vistas and snowcapped peaks all along the trek. Enjoy the magnificent views of the mountains Pumori, Nuptse, Cholatse, Thamserku and several other peaks. Keep your heads high as you might encounter some scarce wildlife and vegetation along the way. In the start of our trek, you will have green hills and rocks assisting you. But, as you move up, you will be surrounded by icy fields. As you hike uphill, you will feel the depreciation in oxygen levels. Lobuche is a small village that connects the other villages to the Everest Base Camp. Overnight in a tea house in Lobuche. 

A trail through the snowy and rocky path. The trails will take you to the Thangma Riju for a 360-degree view of the mountains. There, you will have the first views of the 5545 meters high Kala Patthar. Gorakshep is the last settlement before hiking up to the Everest Base Camp. Leave all of your belongings on the tea house and hike up to make it to the base of the highest peak of the world. Enjoy the views of the Khumbu Glacier and the surrounding peaks of Pumori, Lingren, Khumbutse, and such other peaks. EBC is full of rocks and icy dust. Hike back downhill to end the day at Gorakshep. Overnight in a tea house in Gorakshep.  

Early this morning, you will summit the high Kala Patthar. The peak offers a panoramic sunrise view of the Mt. Everest. Besides the Everest, it also has 360-degree views of the Nuptse, Cholatse, Pumori, and several other peaks. Enjoy the views of 4 of the world’s highest peaks. After soaking in the views, head down towards Gorakshep. After breakfast, you will again descend back to the village of Periche. Overnight in a tea house in Periche.  

Today’s trek will take you through magnificent rhododendron and juniper forest back to the village consisting the oldest monastery around the region. Along the trail, you may see mountain goats, snow leopards, colorful pheasants, and several other animals. Explore the Gompa at Tengboche. Walk back down the same trail to reach Namche Bazaar. Get accompanied by the magnificent mountain views and the Rhododendron forest. Also, have views of the Everest, Nuptse, Thamserku, and other peaks. Enjoy the rest of the day wandering around the trade hub of the Sherpa people. Overnight in a tea house in Namche Bazaar. 

Today you will descend from the Bazaar back to the entry point of the Khumbu Region. Retrace your trail back to the entry point of the Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo. From there, cross several suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi and its tributaries. Also, you will get a chance to enjoy and explore the Sherpa lifestyle and culture. Overnight in a tea house in Lukla. 

You will be boarding the flight back to the Kathmandu Valley through the Tenzing and Hilary Airport. Enjoy your last meal at the rural land of the country and then board the plane to Kathmandu. Spend your free time shopping for souvenirs and wander around the tourist center of the Kathmandu Valley. You can also visit the spas and natural therapy centers for relaxation. Overnight in a hotel in Kathmandu. 

Your Trip to Nepal ends. A Great Nepal representative will guide you to the airport some 3 hours before the flight. Have a safe journey ahead.

  • Nepal entry visa cost. One can obtain a visa easily upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu. A multiple-entry tourist visa good for 30 days can be obtained by paying US$ 40 or equivalent in foreign currency. Similarly, multiple-entry tourist visas for 90 days can be obtained by paying US$ 100. Please bring 2 passport-size photos.
