Dhampus (1650m) is a 3 hours of walk from Phedi tilling where the surface transportation reaches from the Pokhara city. The city is the gateway for the trekkers going towards Annapurna Region.  You will get a chance to dive into the rural life of Nepal along with the magnificent views of Annapurna South, Himchuli and MachhapuchreHimal. 

Dhampus Village – Short hike in Annapurana Region

The traditional village, Dhampus is located in Kaski District which is on the north side of Pokhara valley. You will see Gurung committee as the dominated inhabitants. It is also the ideal place for the best view of outstanding Pokhara, Phewa Lake and World Peace Stupa which gets even better after the sun goes down.

During your Hike to Dhampus, you will counter the outstanding view enormous Mt. Machhapuchhre commonly known as fishtail mountain (6991m) whose figure resembles with the fish’s tail. The village is also an ideal place for overnight, sunrise view, hiking and village tour. The handicrafts of Nepal are loved by the visitors. It is equipped with the tea house service along with home stay. Home stay helps the local people to connect with the visitors and earn for their livelihood at a same time. Many of those are taken along with them as the souvenir which you will also see at the Australian Camp which is just 2 hr of walk away. 

The Journey to Dhampus actually begins at Phedi village which is a 15 min drive from the lakeside city of Pokhara. The trail to Dhampus is filled with the lush forests of rhododendron nesting various diverse species of birds at the village of Chandrakot, inhabited by warm-hearted Gurung people. Dhampus gives you enough time to adore the beautiful Himalayan ranges of Annapurna, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri and Machhapucchre which certainly has a spectacular view.

Views from Dhampus get even more incredible when the sun goes down and gives a very soothing and calm experience. With the feeling of solitude and peace, the Gurung people’s friendly nature is like a cherry on the cake and thus adds more flavors on this amazing journey.

Itinerary for Dhampus Hike:

Day 1: Drive from Pokhara to Phedi (18 Km/45 Minutes) and Hike to Austrlian Camp (2100m/6889ft) via Dhampus Village. 
Day 2: Hike to Kande. Pick up at Kande and drive to Pokhara.
