Day Mountain bike trip in Kathmandu is a scenic cycling route around the valley. The ride to Shivapuri from Kathmandu starts at Balaju (2 kilometers north of Thamel). Balaju chowk is a busy junction at the Foothills of Nagarjuna in the northern section of Kathmandu’s Ring Road it is also our starting point for the trip. From here we follow the highway towards Trishuli and head towards the road to Kakani which is at an altitude of 2073 meters, approximately 23 kilometers away.
The road passes through the twists and turns of the Nagarjuna National Park. A short break admiring the flora and fauna along with some refreshments will be a good. After riding another for few kilometers of the steep hill, you reach Kakani. With lots of tea houses around, stopping for lunch with splendid views of the mountains and forests is like an icing on a delicious cake!
Day 1: Morning breakfast, Mountain biking tour towards Kakani
After early morning breakfast at your hotel, your ride will start towards Kakani via Nagarjun National park, which is 23 km away from Kathmandu Vally. To enable all expedition members to acclimatize well and hence maximize their chances of success, our expedition programs are prepared with sufficient time for acclimatization. Adaptation to the altitude takes time and there can be no short-cuts, even if supplementary oxygen is used in the final stages. The atmospheric pressure at the base camp is half of that at the sea level. A thorough program of acclimatization is built into the itinerary which consists of regulated height ascents, followed by descents and rests before the final ascent to the summit. This will prevent the climbers to get rid from altitude sickness.
