Bhutan has varied landscape and a rich vibrant culture. The 8-days Bhutan Tour offers to experience the Bhutan lifestyle and diverse landscape in all its glory. You can also explore Bhutan overland from Nepal or from North East India’s Sikkim and Darjeeling. Bhutanese landscape is characterized by rugged terrain and steep mountain valleys from subtropical plains in the south, through the temperate zone to the Sub-alpine Himalayas exceeding 7000 meters.

During our journey to Thimpu, we will have to cross tiny villages, waterfalls and animals grazing by the roadside. We will be welcomed with the incredible vistas of the Himalayas from Dochula Pass (3100m/10170ft) during our journey to Punakha. The visit to Punakha and Paro would be our historical tour which includes the Punakha Dzong, the most beautiful Dzong in Bhutan, Chimi Lhakhang, the temple dedicated to Devine Madman and Kichu Lhakhang and the oldest Monastery in Bhutan. Phuentsholing – Paro also popularly known as the ‘Gateway to Bhutan’ and also the ending point of our Bhutan Tour.

Bhutan Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Phuentsholing (300m/985ft)

Great Nepal Representative will meet you at Bhutan – India border checkpoint in Phuentsholing. After visa formalities drive to your Hotel. Situated at the base of Himalayan foothills, Phuentsholing is an administrative and commercial center of Chukha District. Being the border town, it serves well as the entry/exit point from Indian cities West Bengal, Sikkim and Assam. Stay overnight at Phuentsholing.

Day 2:Drive from Phuentsholing – Thimphu (164km/6-7 hours)

After breakfast we will drive to Thimphu (164km/6-7 hours). Upon arrival transfer to your Hotel. Rest of the day we will have a half day sightseeing and stroll freely around Thimphu town. Stay overnight at Thimphu.

Day 3: Full day Sightseeing tour of Thimphu

After breakfast we will visit Changangkha Lhakhang, built in 12th century which was considered as most important temple for new born child. The traditional arts are still preserved in Takin Nation Park Painting School. Bhutan Memorial Chorten (Stupa) was built in 1974 in the memory of Third King of Bhutan. Buddha statue sited at Kuensel Phodrang is one of the largest Buddha Rupas in the world. Tashichho Dzong is the Thimphu’s most impressive building situated at the banks of Wang Chhu built in 1641. Stay overnight at Thimphu.

Day 4:Drive from Thimpu to Punakha (70km/3 hours)

After breakfast we will drive to Punakha crossing Dochu-la pass (3,100m). The clear day offers the most spectacular view over the highest peaks of the Himalaya. Druk Wangyal Chorten (Temple) adjacent to Dochu La Nature Walk and Punakha Dzong, built in 1637 is considered as second oldest Dzong in the country. It is built in between two rivers, Female River and Male River. Freely scrolling around town. Stay overnight at Punakha. Note: River Rafting will be arranged at Punakha but you need to bear the rafting amount

Day 5:Drive from Punakha to Paro (130km/2-3 hours)

After breakfast we will drive to Paro via Thimphu Royal Biotical Park at Lamperi Tachogang Lhakhang. The bridge which leads to temple is an iron suspension bridge built in 15th century at the river side of Paro Dzong (fortress), 1646. You will cross a traditional wooden bridge on the way to the Dzong. National Museum (Ta-Dzong) which is just above ParoDzong having a unique collections of ancient armor, textiles, Thangkha paintings. Evening freely scrolling around town. Stay overnight at Paro.

Day 6:Hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest)(4 km/2-3 hours)

Taktsang Monastery is also one of the most challenging monasteries situated at an elevation of over 10,000 feet. Taktsang, the birthplace of Bhutanese Buddhism. In 8th century Guru Rinpoche flew from Tibet on the back of a tigress tigress from Singye Dzong in Lhuntse and meditated in a cave for three month where Taktsang Monastery now stands. It is perched on a rocky ledge. Evening freely scrollingfor shopping. Stay overnight at Paro. Note: You can also reach the Tiger’s Nest by walking or by horseback and while it is a challenging trek, you gain merit with every step. A short hike is worth when you are gazed with the beautiful view of Paro Valley from the Monastery.

Day 7:Drive from Paro to Phuentsholing (160km/4-5 hours)

After early breakfast we will drive to Phuentsholing and visit Zangtho Pelri Park and Crocodile Zoo. Evening freely scrolling around town.Stay overnight at Phuntsholing.

Day 8:Departure

You will be transferred to Bagdogra Airport (IXB)/ New Jalpaiguri RLY Station (NJP)/New Alipurdaur RLY Station/Siliguri for onward destination.
